Dr. Lida Jennings Executive Director Lida joined Teach For America in 2010 with 20 years of experience in the higher education and corporate retail sectors. Most recently, Lida served as Assistant Dean at the RAND Corporation following nine years as the Director of the full-time MBA Program at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. Before relocating to Los Angeles for graduate school, she held a series of store-line and buy-side leadership roles at Macy’s and The Gap in San Francisco. Since joining Teach For America Los Angeles, Lida has held multiple roles on the leadership team, including Managing Director of Strategy, Talent, and Operations, and Managing Director of District and School Partnerships.  She has lived in Los Angeles for 17 years and has a BA in psychology from Smith College, an MBA from USC Marshall School of Business, and a Doctorate in Education from the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. Lida has extensive experience volunteering for non-profit organizations throughout California; she currently serves as a board member for Endeavor College Prep, a charter middle school in East Los Angeles, and is a member of the Loyola Marymount Graduate School of Education Board of Visitors.

Dayna Mauricia

Vice President, Regional Strategy and Development 

Dayna joined Teach For America staff in 2006 as the head of development for the Phoenix region where she launched a growth campaign to double the size of the corps. Following this, she served as SMD, Regional Development supporting 10 regions with their local fundraising campaigns and as VP, Diversity & Inclusiveness during which she initiated the largest ever Latino Summit for staff, corps, and alumni.  Prior to Teach For America, she helped launch the Los Angeles site of The Posse Foundation and held several internships focused on Latino electoral politics with the office of Congressman Xavier Becerra, Southwest Voter Education Project, and the 2000 Democratic National Convention.  Dayna graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Political Science and M.A. in Sociology.

 

Celia Alvarado

Vice President, Corps Member and Alumni Impact 

Celia began her career as an educator in Los Angeles Unified School District and was named Teacher of the Year in 2003 for her district. Prior to joining Teach For America as the VP of CM and Alumni Impact, she was the Executive Director for Education Pioneer's Western Regions. Celia received her B.A. from Stanford University, her Ed.M. from Harvard University and Ed.D. from University of California, Los Angeles. She is an adjunct faculty member at Loyola Marymount University’s Graduate School of Education.
