Session Date, Times & Location:

  • Saturday, October 15th,  8:30am - 1:30pm
    • Please make sure to sign in by 8:20am.
    • dditional convening spaces available from 2:00 - 3:25pm

Parking & Transportation:  

  • Carpools,  Motorcycles, Handicap Placards and Solo Drivers arriving before 8:15am
    • Main Parking Lot (access via Boyle Avenue)
    • Carpools are any cars with 2 or more occupants.
    • Teach For America and Puente Learning Center are not responsible for damage/theft of vehicles that are parked in the South Parking Lot or in the surrounding community. 
  • Solo Drivers arriving after 8:15am
    • Street Parking (on Boyle Avenue and surrounding neighborhood)

  • Public Transportation
    • Gold Line – Exit Mariachi Plaza/Boyle Heights Station and head West on 1st St before turning left on S Boyle Avenue. Destination will be on the right 
    • Buses – 720 (exit Whittier/Soto), 68 (exit Cesar E Chavez/Boyle)
  • Ride Shares (Lyft, Uber, etc.)
    • Enter the schools address and ask to be dropped off in the Parking Lot.
  • Plan ample time to park and find your session locations.
    • We suggest arriving at 8:10am.
 

Dress:

School-friendly: Please dress comfortably (jeans are OK), but also be aware that we are holding sessions in an active school community, where students and staff may be working, so please dress accordingly.

Food:

  • Coffee & Tea service will be provided by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
  • Bagels (with toasters!) light snacks will be available all morning & afternoon.
  • Lunch will be provided, but attendance is optional.
  • We will not be providing water bottles but will have water dispensers. Please bring your own water bottle to help reduce waste and our costs.

Please note: food and drinks are not allowed on the second floor. 

Things to Bring:

Pen, paper, fully charged laptop, and laptop charger.

ENTERING CAMPUS:

All corps members will enter via the entrance located in the South Parking Lot. 

Welcome Table:

Located in front of the Multipurpose Room on the first floor. On the map above, the Multipurpose Room is immediately to the left when you enter from the South Parking Lot. All corps members must sign in and out at the Welcome Table.

Center Usage:

We will be using the Multipurpose Room on the first floor for our Whole Corps Gathering and for larger group sessions. The second floor will be used for workshops and smaller group sessions.

Please note: food and drinks are not allowed on the second floor. Gum is not allowed in the building. 

Stewardship:

Puente Learning Center is a highly regarded and critical resource center for the Boyle Heights community and has only just opened it's doors to external community partnerships. They have been extremely gracious in allowing us to utilize their facility and so we ask that all Teach For America staff, corps members and external presenters respect the staff, students and property of the Center.
